Talis Walker is an orphan with the reputation of running away. But it isn't her fault, really. She just has a habit of walking into other worlds by accident.

One day, she is thrown together with a mysterious elfin soldier and his dog, both being chased by some truly scary nightmare creatures.

Together, they set out across the many worlds to find the mythical "Higher Powers" and to stop the evil Rot that is threatening the very concept of life.
